COOLING Outdoor mist and mist systems have been effectively used in outdoor cooling applications for decades. These systems, when properly designed and installed, can provide cooling of outdoor temperatures by up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit with virtually no noticeable increase in the relative humidity. Applications will include restaurants, theme parks, hotels and resorts, spectator arenas, tennis courts, golf facilities, boats and RVs, fountains, waterfalls, and patios, etc… By using 1,000 PSI, atomizing the water droplets to a size as small as 5 microns (5 millionths of a meter) in diameter is possible. At this level, 'flash evaporation' occurs reducing the ambient temperature. This process, known as 'Thermal Dynamics', is effective because water requires energy (600 calories of heat to evaporate 1 gram of water) to evaporate. This energy exchange results in reduced temperatures. The overall effectiveness of the system will depend on existing temperature and humidity levels. As the temperature rises (85º Fahrenheit to 115 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal), and humidity levels drop (above 90% performance is marginal, 40% to 90% performance is good, below 40% performance is excellent), the systems results can be dramatic. As with any evaporative cooling process, the more moisture evaporated, the greater the cooling results. Proper system design to obtain complete evaporation and maximum cooling is important to the systems overall performance. The systems results can be enhanced when used in shaded or covered areas and when they incorporate increased airflow through use of ceiling mounted, wall mounted, or floor mounted fans. Whether used for outdoor restaurant patios, or poolside at a 5 Star hotel, DB Mist Systems create an atmosphere that is both unique and appealing. For any outdoor application where temperature reductions are required, the DB Mist Systems is the natural and ideal solution. Animal cooling One of the more common uses for cooling with a mist system has been in the cattle and poultry industries. In both cases, effective cooling systems can dramatically improve the overall operation. The flash evaporation achieved with a mist system cools without excessive moisture thereby eliminating infections and unsanitary conditions associated with other less effective cooling systems. For cattle, the cooling system reduces heat stress providing improved physical metabolism. This equates to enhanced milk production, increased feed intake, better weight gain and faster reproduction. For poultry, the mist system will compensate for their own lack of a natural means of heat reduction. This helps eliminate premature aging and unnecessary losses in stock. It also improves their physical metabolism leading to increased egg production. Other viable animal applications include the equestrian and hog industries. As with cattle and poultry, the main benefit is improved environmental conditions for the animals. This improved quality of life can have a noticeable effect, especially when dealing with highly prized racehorses. By reducing temperatures, a typical hog farm will improve feeding cycles which directly increases the size and value of the animal. In addition, the mist system can be developed to serve as a viable odor control option. By including the necessary components in the system design, effective odor removal is possible. As the EPA continues to mandate improvements in this area, mist systems are becoming more of a requirement than a luxury in all animal related industries. In short, mist systems will improve the overall physical condition for any animal related operation. They are great for cages, kennels, stables, zoos, and shelters. They will protect from the adverse effects of extreme summer conditions. The systems will also repel flying insects and help minimize or eliminate dust and other airborne particulates. Pre-cooling When used to pre-cool air intake for large industrial air conditioners and evaporative coolers, performance of the existing unit can be enhanced while dramatically reducing the cost of operation. This is accomplished because the cooler air intake reduces the compressor load and the head pressure, it reduces unit cycling and the resulting energy required to operate the unit. These cost reductions can be as much as 20% to 25%. Pre-cooling mist systems utilize high-pressure mist and electronically controlled sensors including timers, humidistats, and thermostats allowing for effective pre-cooling without excessive moisture. In addition, the cooler air from the mist system will extend the time delays between start up thereby prolong the operational life of the unit. Industrial Cooling The most extreme work conditions can be dramatically improved by reducing ambient temperature. This can lead to improved efficiencies for both the workers and the processes. This is most evident in metal forging and foundries as well as in oil refineries and construction sites. When a properly designed system is installed, cooling of temperatures by up to 40º Fahrenheit are achievable. The mist system can pay for itself within the first year based on overall improvements to efficiencies. Once there is an understanding of how mist systems operate, it is easy to see why these systems can have far reaching implications for many different industries. By utilizing direct drive, pulley drive, or variable frequency drive pump units, a customized system can be produced for virtually any need. Tubing options include high-pressure nylon, copper, and premium stainless steel. To enhance the system for any specific application, computer oriented controllers allow the system to operate with maximum efficiency under various temperature and humidity conditions | ||
